Topic: Michigan Engineering - Partnering for the Future
The University of Michigan has one of the largest and best colleges of engineering in the nation. Dean Munson will provide an up-to-date overview of its educational and research missions and activities and answer these three questions: What have we been up to, besides education? Speaker: K. Sue O'Shea, Professor of Cell & Developmental Biology, U-M Medical School
Topic: Stem Cells 101 - A Rotarians' Introduction to Stem Cell Biology
Professor O'Shea's presentation will focus on stem cells' two unique characteristics: pluripotency (ability to form many cell types) and self-renewal (ability to divide & replace a stem cell). Learn about their sources, from early blastocyst (embryonic) and adult tissues (neural & muscle stem cells), and how various types of stem cells can be used for study of early human development, cell replacement therapies, and drug discovery. Topic: History of Music in the Ann Arbor Public Schools
We see and hear fine examples of music education & performance in our local schools when the Pioneer and Huron Choirs serenade us each year. Learn more about these nationally recognized programs from a person who played a great part in them before his retirement. Want to know what was the first Ann Arbor High School fight song, or who were Harry Frieze, Calvin Cady, Albert Stanley, Juva Higbee, and William Champion? Topic: Making Rotary Dreams Real in District 6380
One of the most demanding but also rewarding aspects of a Rotary District Governor's responsi-bilities is to visit and speak to every club in the District. Stan Sherman brings great knowledge and enthusiasm to this task. He has been a member of the Royal Oak Club for about forty years, was its president in 1971-72, and chaired its annual fund-raising auction for many years. He also was named that city's Distinguished Citizen of the Year in 2005. Host/introducer: Jim Cook.

Topic: Rotaract Plans and Programs for 2008-09
Noam is a U-M junior from Massachusetts, a student mentor in the University's Office of New Student Programs, a member of the Rotaract Club's Board of Directors, and its representative to the U-M Chapter of the Foundation for International Medical Relief of Children, with which our Rotaractors are partnering in community service.
